About Leasing Commercial Trucks and Semi Trailers

What is rigfinder.com?
rigfinder.com is an online marketplace for commercial truck and trailer equipment and financed leases. Our goal is to match owner-operators who want to terminate their leases—or dealers with trucks and trailers for lease—with others who are looking for a short-term truck or trailer lease with little or no money down.

For more history and background, see About rigfinder.com. (The page will open in a new window.)

How does the rigfinder process work?
As a lease “seller,” you can list your truck or semi trailer to find someone to assume your current lease. You get nationwide exposure to truckers who are looking for a vehicle. You save time and money and in many cases, you can avoid having to “buy out” or default on your lease by transferring it.

As a lease “buyer,” you can view available commercial trucks and trailers from all over the country, then contact the “seller” and negotiate the lease transfer with the current leasing company. In many cases, this can be the start of an ongoing business relationship with a new lender that you may otherwise never have contacted.

How often is rigfinder.com updated?
Listings are added in real time. When a new truck or trailer is added, it’s displayed almost immediately for “buyers” to see.

What are the fees for transferring a lease?
rigfinder.com charges fees for “sellers” to list vehicles and for “buyers” to contact sellers. The leasing company also charges fees to apply for credit, or fees to transfer the lease, or both. Some also have fees that apply at the end of a lease. Every leasing company determines its own fee structures and the fees vary between companies. Your state may also charge licensing fees and taxes.

What information do I need to list my vehicle with rigfinder?
You’ll need your contact information (name, address, phone numbers, email address), details about the vehicle (make, model, year, features, options), and details about the lease (monthly payment amount, number of months left on the lease, leasing company, assumption fee). And of course, you’ll want to have pictures of your rig.

Can “sellers” offer incentives?
Yes! You might offer to deliver the vehicle to the buyer, to pay some or all of the transfer fees, or even offer cash for taking over your lease.

How much exposure will my listing get?
The launch of rigfinder.com includes an aggressive advertising and marketing effort to create an ongoing demand for our Find a Rig service. The multimedia marketing campaign, which is already underway, is reaching hundreds of thousands of owner-operators and trucking companies every month through a variety of methods:

* Advertising at hundreds of truck stops across the U.S. This includes partnerships with the Road King Club and Newport Communications.
* Banner advertising on some of the most popular websites in the industry, including etrucker.com, landlinemag.com, and truckinginfo.com.
* Nationwide online and print advertising in partnership with IdleAire.
* An advanced Internet and search engine advertising campaign.
* A public relations media campaign that is promoting rigfinder.com through thousands of news distributors.

rigfinder.com is new and the first website of its kind in the trucking industry. The actual exposure rates are being tracked and will be available monthly beginning in November. We expect ongoing growth in the number of vehicles being listed and sold. We also expect that the length of time it takes to sell equipment will match or beat industry standards because of the advanced search capabilities of our Find a Rig service.

Companies that List a Rig now will have a unique competitive advantage and a greater chance of selling equipment to the growing market of people logging on to Find a Rig.
