In late 1999, we developed rigfinder.com as a spin-off of Sapp Bros. DBR Leasing. I had some experience in the transportation industry through the Sapp Bros. companies and because of my own experience as the founder of Indy Lube. We originally designed rigfinder.com to match independent owner-operators with truck leases from Sapp Bros. DBR Leasing. We sold the leasing business in 2000, but we retained ownership of rigfinder.com.
In 2005, we relaunched rigfinder.com as a matchmaking service. Businesses, trucking companies, and independent owner-operators can list heavy-duty tractors, medium-duty trucks, and trailers that they have leased but no longer need in their fleets. Other trucking companies and owner-operators who are seeking transportation equipment can search or browse the listings to find the right vehicle, then contact the listing lessee/owner and negotiate a lease assumption through the original leasing company.
